Let's face it there is a lot of crap on the internet on how to surfskate. I've seen videos from Russia, Thailand, mid west U.S.A., basically around the world and it looks nothing like surfing.
In this YouTube series I'm gonna do my best to simplify the surfskate chaos and give you what I have coached all my athletes to do.
Now, What came first surfing or skateboarding?? You would be surprised that some young athletes answer: skateboarding. The first skateboard was created in the early 1950s by California surfers wanting to practice surfing when the waves were flat. So surfskating should look like surfing not what you see online with over rotated arms, knocked knees, ankle toe wiggle pumps or a cocked in back knee. All these body postions on a surfskate are due to the fact that some of these coaches are just doing what they see surfer do without knowing the true body mechanics of surfing.
When I was a kid I had a Yellow plastic Cobra skateboard and had to skate a country dirt road that had a berm on the side of it from cars pulling over to pass each other. Basically a red dirt wave until they developed a asphalt road with a small berm. I wasn't trying to be a skater. I wanted to be a surfer and those berms became my waves. So please
